Known as "Perpignan garnets" or "Catalan garnets" these are regional jewels crafted near Perpignan, in the Pyrenes foothills close to the the Spanish border. A popular style from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, these jewels were often passed down from mother to daughter. The garnets are rose cuts, which are artfully foiled and set in gold to achieve a distinctive
