Paul Kauvar Smith was born in Missouri and studied commercial art at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts (1915 16) and after the war he continued his studies at the Washington University (St. Louis, MI). In 1921 he moved to Denver and was taught by artist John Edward Thompson, who was credited for bringing
