Large English Staffordshire Pottery Flatback Figural Group of a Scottish Couple and Clock antique lantern Near pair with G1182DETAILS An antique Staffordshire figure group modelled as a Scottish couple seated on a mantel clock. The gentleman holds his bagpipes flanked by a young lady with her hands crossed in her lap. Staffordshire figures were made from around 1740 to 1900 by various pottery factories in England and Scotland. Most have no makers marks. Victorian flatback examples were undecorated on one side because they were designed to sit on a shelf or fireplace mantel
