1970〜80年代を通して、彼は自身の子ども時代を記録し続けた。ベッドルームの窓から見える景色や、空に舞う風船を撮影した。離婚したばかりの母親が鏡の前で口紅を塗る姿や、自分のことだけしか見ていない彼女のまなざしを撮影した。官能と自己表現という新たな可能性とともに、青年期が視野に入ってくると、10代の自分の体を記録した。彼はモデルになりたかったのだと気づいた。
