The original Sunset Reflections was painted on a road map of Minnesota using thinned acrylic paints to allow the map to show through

I then added a splash of patina blue using acid oxidized copper paint that outlines the shape of the heart

On the original the sky was created using imitation silver leaf for the background. The clouds were then rendered using acid oxidized copper paint to make it patina. I knew from previous work that when I use the acid over the metal leaf it will burn through it in places, so I painted the background black before apply the metal leaf and that gives it an antique mirror
