The metal frame and base is lacquered white with clear perspex joints. The sliding rod is secured in place by a large feature chrome screw which allows the section with the shade to slide up and down on the lower metal supporting pole. The supporting pole sits on a heavy white metal base which holds it in place and stops it from toppling
